Divorce in 1996: Divorce was requested by wife. Husband to pay all of 18 year old's education and living expenses until college graduation. Husband also agrees to pay $5,000 per month alimony. Assets of $8 million are equally divided. Husband was making $600k and wife $75k
Current situation: Husband unemployed for 27 months of the last three years. Wife makes $90k and has income from two rental properties. Child is now 25 with a BA degree. Husband paid all for the 6 years it took to get a 4 year degree. Husband has no other sources of income and is using savings to pay alimony.
What should the husband do to modify alimony or eliminate it? Last job offer was for $100k and outlook in Silicon Valley is very gloomy.
