My wife and I are separated so she can justify her adultrey...she still has the diamond ring (worth about $4200)...she mentioned to me that since it was a gift, it should not be part of a settlement in a divorce...I know that she will probably take the ring where we bought it and use the credit to get herself other jewelry...I had a ring from a previous engagement worth $2100 and the credit for that ring was used to purchase the new one...we went to the store together, she picked out the one she wanted, and we paid for it together since our finances were already combined at that time...does she have the right to claim the ring as hers even though the "gift" was a contract of our marriage?...any advice would be appreciated...I'm seeing a lawyer next week but I would like to hear as many opinions as I can before then
