I have been married to a verbally abusive
alcoholic man for seven years. 31/2 years
ago I got up the courage to file for divorce.
I took him back because I thought he was
suicidal and he promised to change. He did
change he was only drunk 3-4 days of the week
instead of 7. Last December I got me courage
up again and got a restraining order to get him
out of the house. He has been arrested for
domestic violence,been through alcohol treatment
programs and has been commited for suicidal
behavior.
He has hardly worked since the marriage began.
I have not gotten a dime from him in the last
4 year. nor did he do anything around he
house I have 2 small children and a
substantial estate. What do I stand to lose??
I know I have to see an attorney soon while
the restraining order is in tack. However
I have been to depressed to do this.
One more thing, before we were married I asked
him if he had a drinking problem because
I thought he drank to much. He stated he
definately did not. I thought he had stopped
drinking totally after that so I believed
him. I did not realize that people drank in
the morning until after I was married
