OK, Dear it is quite clear that your boyfriend is in this situation and you want to defend him - but you are fighting a losing battle (from every side imaginable). As far as "knowing he was a loser" having a relationship with someone and even watching them around kids is no indicator of what the reality of parenthood (and selflessness)are going to do to them. The greatest men and women turn out to sometimes lack in the parental aspects of their lives and relationships- to the surprise and dismay of all people involved, especially the children. Just look at who you are with (and if it's actually you, then I guess you're the loser and somebody chose you) - point made. You obviously don't get that it's not a "petty 8,000 dollar debt" (as if you are suing them for an unpaid credit card bill) that's going to court its children's lives that are going to court - and that's worth every millisecond of the court's time. This is not to say that there are never any egos and hurt feelings involved - but even so they are justifiable and are in no way a defense for the absent parent's point of view . Your boyfriend (or you if you happen to be the boyfriend) is not being sued for "money" but for "support". Only someone without misguided judgement would be able to differentiate between the two. And you are right, being a strong woman (or man) is mandatory for handling the job, so that means that anyone not strong enough is not eligible to compete and should be thrown out the game - and only the people judging that game can decide what the penalties will be. All people watching in the stands can yell their opinions but its not their final call- STAY OUT OF IT.
